1Production planning and scheduling
Material requirements planning (MRP I) and operations scheduling with finite capacity (MRP II) are included from the Starter edition, alongside production calendars, Gantt charts and drag-and-drop rescheduling. Higher editions add a master production schedule for long-term planning, rough-cut capacity planning, backward and just-in-time scheduling, and parallel or overlapping operations.
Trade-off: Finite-capacity scheduling is only as good as the operation times and workstation capacities you record. Manufacturers who treat routing setup as admin work get noticeably less value from the scheduler than those who invest in it first.
2Bills of materials and manufacturing workflows
Single-level, multi-level and phantom bills of materials with routings are available in every edition, with CSV import and export, bulk editing and substitute-part tools for maintaining them at volume. Professional adds matrix or product-configurator bills, co-product bills for scrap and by-products, disassembly and auto-disassembly, and expiry dates.
Trade-off: BOM quality is the project, not the software. Existing spreadsheets usually contain duplicate parts, inconsistent units of measure and stale substitutions that must be cleaned before planning can be trusted.
3Inventory and procurement
Warehouse management covers stock keeping units, on-hand versus available versus expected stock, internal storage locations, lot tracking, label printing, shipment planning and picking, low-inventory alerts and inventory adjustments. Purchasing tracks purchase orders from request for quotation through delivery, with shortage reports, time-phased requirements, vendor pricelists and lead times, partial deliveries and purchase invoices.
Trade-off: Multiple warehouses, packing and returned goods handling are gated to Enterprise. A single-site business will not notice; a business with a second store or a returns process will.
4Shop-floor reporting
Dedicated shop-floor interfaces let operators see their production plan and report progress against operations without needing full planning access, with internet-kiosk style reporting available on Starter and barcode printing and scanning from Enterprise. Mobile apps are published for iOS and Android.
Trade-off: Each operator who needs a login is a billed seat. Businesses that give every machine minder an account see per-user pricing become the largest line in the subscription cost.
5Manufacturing cost tracking and reporting
Product costing covers materials, overhead and labour, with work in process, labour reports by worker, actual or FIFO inventory costing, stock movement reports, sales reports and cost-profit reports. Reports can be exported, and Microsoft Power BI is a documented integration for wider business intelligence.
Trade-off: The built-in standard accounting module produces a balance sheet, general ledger, profit and loss and cash flow forecast, but it is not a substitute for a UK accounts package handling VAT returns, payroll and statutory reporting.
6Quality, traceability and approvals
Lot traceability ships on Starter, while serial number tracking, quality control with quality hold and expiry date management are documented from Professional, and approval workflows for manufacturing and purchase orders from Enterprise.
Trade-off: Traceability features that regulated or audit-conscious manufacturers consider essential sit above the entry plan, so the realistic budget is rarely the advertised Starter price.
7Integrations, API and data movement
Documented integrations include Xero, QuickBooks Online, Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Amazon, Magento, Pipedrive, HubSpot, Salesforce, ShipStation, Ware2Go, Microsoft Power BI, Zapier, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and Dropbox, with CSV import-export throughout and EDI available via integration partners.
Trade-off: The current pricing page documents API access and webhooks under the Unlimited plan, while other vendor pages have described API access for paid accounts more broadly. Confirm which edition delivers the automation you need before budgeting.
8Security and data protection
Vendor pages state ISO 27001 certification, SSL encryption in transit, dedicated physical servers, encrypted backups, user-level permissions, action logs, IP access restrictions and optional two-factor authentication. The published Data Processing Addendum states that personal data is processed within the European Economic Area and that MRPeasy will not transfer it outside the EEA without the controller's consent.
Trade-off: Support staff do not have default access to customer data — access must be explicitly granted — which is good practice, but it also means troubleshooting depends on the customer granting permission through the ticket system.
9Edition limits and record caps
The terms publish caps on active database items per edition. On the current table, Starter allows 1,000 stock keeping units, 500 bills of materials, 500 routings, 50 workstations, 500 customers and 200 vendors, rising to 3,000, 1,000 and 1,000 respectively for stock keeping units, bills of materials and routings on Professional and 7,000, 2,000 and 2,000 on Enterprise, with Unlimited removing the limits.
Trade-off: Caps apply to active rather than archived records, so housekeeping matters. A business that has outgrown its edition must upgrade rather than delete history it still needs.
