Editorial independence
UK Business Stack is an independent editorial and research platform. Commercial relationships do not determine ratings, verdicts, recommendations, inclusion or editorial conclusions. Editorial assessment is carried out independently of any commercial arrangement, and a commercial relationship never guarantees higher placement or favourable treatment.
Eligibility and review
Every commercial collaboration request is subject to manual partner due diligence and editorial review before any commercial discussion takes place. Proposals are assessed for editorial suitability, contextual relevance to UK small businesses and consistency with the site's editorial standards. UK Business Stack may decline any proposal at its sole editorial discretion.
Partner due diligence
Before any commercial approval, UK Business Stack conducts manual due diligence on the proposed partner, website and destination. This includes reviewing the legitimacy of the business, the quality and relevance of the website, the suitability of the proposed destination URL and any obvious search or spam risks. Due diligence is a manual editorial process and does not rely solely on automated signals.
Sponsored brand placements
Sponsored brand placements are approved brand mentions within suitable existing editorial content. Placements are subject to editorial approval and carry appropriate disclosure and sponsored link attributes. The standard term is 12 months from the publication date.
Contributed editorial collaborations
Contributed editorial collaborations are not guest-post services. Submitted material is treated as source input. UK Business Stack may edit, restructure, fact-check, request evidence, reject claims, remove promotional wording, change headings, determine references and decline publication. Publication is based on usefulness to UK Business Stack readers. Commercial approval does not transfer editorial control. The client cannot require exact-match anchors, ranking-oriented wording, positive conclusions or unsupported claims.
Sponsored editorial features
Sponsored editorial features are produced and controlled by UK Business Stack. Payment supports research, editorial production, approved brand exposure and publication within the agreed scope. Payment does not purchase a positive review outcome, a rating, a recommendation, a Best-list position, a comparison winner or any SEO ranking benefit. Where sponsorship materially affects the context, it is disclosed clearly.
Vendor partnerships
Larger campaigns, strategic partnerships, multi-asset collaborations, research projects and custom editorial programmes are quoted individually with custom pricing and custom scope. The scope, terms and pricing of vendor partnerships are agreed individually and remain subject to the same editorial standards.
Disclosure
Commercial relationships are disclosed where appropriate. Paid placements are identified as commercial content so that readers can distinguish commercial content from independent editorial content.
Link attributes
Any outbound link that exists because of a paid commercial relationship uses rel="sponsored" by default, with noopener and noreferrer attributes for external links. UK Business Stack retains control of link attributes and does not offer followed ranking-credit links. Clients do not control SEO anchor text.
Affiliate relationships
Affiliate relationships are separate from commercial collaborations and are governed by our affiliate disclosure. The presence or absence of any commercial relationship, whether affiliate or paid placement, should not be read as a statement of quality.
Payment timing
Submission of a request requires no payment. UK Business Stack reviews the proposal first. Payment is requested only after partner due diligence, editorial-fit review, commercial approval, and agreement of scope and price. Payment terms and methods are confirmed with the partner after approval.
Payment itself does not guarantee publication if material circumstances change before publication or if the supplied material or destination fails the agreed editorial or safety requirements.
Publication conditions
Publication takes place only after approval and payment confirmation. UK Business Stack reserves the right to refuse publication where a proposal no longer meets editorial standards at the time of publication. If UK Business Stack identifies a material problem before publication, it will first seek clarification or remediation where reasonable before cancelling the collaboration.
Standard 12-month term
Collaborations carry a standard 12-month term from the publication date. Placement is not permanent. The placement remains active for the standard term subject to continued compliance with UK Business Stack standards.
Post-publication protection
After publication, UK Business Stack retains the right to review, modify, qualify, replace or remove a commercial reference or collaboration if circumstances materially change. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Destination domain changes ownership
- Destination website materially changes purpose
- Target URL changes content
- Target URL begins redirecting elsewhere
- Unexpected redirect chains appear
- Destination becomes irrelevant
- Site quality materially deteriorates
- Site begins exhibiting spam or deceptive behaviour
- Malware or security concerns appear
- Partner materially changes the promoted product or service
- Misleading claims are discovered
- Partner no longer meets the acceptance standards
- Collaboration no longer meets UK Business Stack editorial standards
- Continued publication creates material editorial, reputational, user-safety, legal or search-quality concerns
This right exists to protect the long-term editorial reputation, search visibility, users and brand of UK Business Stack. It is a protection mechanism, not an arbitrary right to remove paid work without reason, and it is applied in line with the commercial agreement.
Renewal
A standard 12-month collaboration expires at the end of its agreed term. Renewal is not automatic. Renewal is treated as a new collaboration and requires a fresh review of partner legitimacy, editorial relevance, website quality, the exact destination, redirects, product and service status, current acceptance standards, current commercial scope and current pricing.
Original pricing is not guaranteed at renewal. Renewal pricing may reflect the current UK Business Stack audience and reach, current commercial rates, scope, workload, exposure, duration and campaign requirements. No renewal discount or renewal tariff is published.
Editing rights
UK Business Stack retains the right to edit, reframe or reject contributed content at any point before or after publication where it does not meet editorial standards or where factual accuracy requires correction.
Rejection rights
UK Business Stack may reject any proposal, placement or contributed content at its sole editorial discretion, at any stage before or after approval, where it does not meet editorial standards or where it presents unacceptable editorial, reputational, user-safety or search-quality risk.
Removal rights
UK Business Stack may remove or amend any commercial placement where it no longer meets editorial standards, where the target content becomes unavailable, or where continued publication would be inconsistent with the site's editorial obligations. Removal may also occur under the post-publication protection provisions above.
Changes to target URLs or clients
Changes to target URLs, client details or placement content during the term are subject to editorial review. UK Business Stack may request updated details and may decline changes that affect editorial suitability.
Partner duty to notify
During an active collaboration, the partner should notify UK Business Stack of material changes affecting ownership of the promoted business or domain, the target URL, redirects, the promoted product or service, company identity, material regulatory or legal status relevant to the collaboration, or closure or discontinuation of the product or business. Failure to notify does not prevent UK Business Stack from reviewing or removing the collaboration when the change is discovered.
Restricted or high-risk sectors
UK Business Stack may decline categories presenting disproportionate legal, regulatory, user-safety, editorial or reputational risk. Categories that will normally be declined include illegal products or services, malware, scams, phishing or deceptive services, counterfeit or stolen goods, explicit adult content or services, weapons-related commercial offers, recreational or illegal drugs, high-risk gambling operations, fraudulent or highly questionable investment or financial schemes, and businesses primarily engaged in spam or link-scheme activity. This list is illustrative, not exhaustive.
Ordinary legitimate businesses in regulated areas, such as accounting software, fintech software, cybersecurity software, business finance tools, payment processors and regulated legitimate SaaS, are not excluded by this section. Legitimate regulated businesses are evaluated individually.
Cancellation and refunds
Before payment, a requester may withdraw the enquiry and UK Business Stack may reject the proposal. No payment has occurred, so no refund issue exists.
After payment but before publication, if UK Business Stack cancels the approved collaboration for its own reasons and the partner has not materially breached the agreed conditions, any amount already paid for the unpublished collaboration should normally be refunded in full.
If publication cannot proceed because the partner materially changes the agreed destination, supplies materially misleading information, fails to provide required material, introduces unacceptable content, creates a material safety, spam or reputational issue, or otherwise materially breaches the agreed conditions, UK Business Stack may cancel the collaboration. The appropriate refund treatment in such cases may depend on the circumstances and the work already performed.
After publication, there is no automatic full refund merely because rankings do not improve, traffic does not increase, leads do not result, the partner changes marketing strategy, or the partner no longer wants the placement. Those outcomes were never guaranteed.
If UK Business Stack voluntarily removes an otherwise compliant collaboration before the agreed term ends, for reasons not caused by the partner, UK Business Stack should assess an appropriate pro-rata refund for the unused portion of the agreed term.
If UK Business Stack removes or modifies a collaboration because of a material partner, destination, safety, spam, deception, compliance or policy problem, there is no automatic entitlement to a refund.
These terms describe UK Business Stack's commercial approach and do not override any rights that may apply under applicable law.
No SEO, ranking, traffic or lead guarantees
UK Business Stack does not guarantee SEO performance, rankings, traffic or leads from any commercial collaboration. Commercial placements are editorial content, not search-engine optimisation services. Payment cannot reasonably be interpreted as purchasing a particular rating, a positive review, a favourable verdict, a recommendation, a comparison winner, Best-list inclusion or position, an editorial conclusion, a keyword anchor, a followed ranking-credit link, a ranking improvement, traffic or leads.
A commercial client is paying for an approved commercial/editorial collaboration, not for PageRank, ranking credit, SEO authority, guaranteed backlinks, keyword-rich anchor text, rankings, organic traffic, leads, a positive review, a favourable verdict or a Best-list position. UK Business Stack may commercially value its growing audience and reach when quoting custom projects, but it does not sell search-ranking influence.
Conflicts of interest
UK Business Stack discloses commercial relationships transparently and keeps commercial arrangements separate from editorial assessment. Where a potential conflict of interest is identified, it is managed through the editorial review process and appropriate disclosure.
Relationship with the affiliate disclosure
This policy governs paid commercial collaborations. Affiliate relationships are governed separately by the affiliate disclosure. The two types of relationship are disclosed separately and neither determines editorial conclusions.
Relationship with the privacy policy
Personal data collected through commercial collaboration enquiries is handled in line with our privacy policy.
