Quick verdict

Should Gusto be on your shortlist?

Strongest use case
A US small business of one to one hundred employees that wants automatic payroll with tax filing, benefits administration, time tracking and onboarding in one polished platform — or a US company that needs to pay UK contractors or hire a UK employee through an employer of record.
Main limitation
Gusto is a US payroll product, not a UK one. It does not run UK PAYE payroll, cannot make HMRC Real Time Information submissions, has no UK entity or UK data hosting, and prices everything in US dollars. The UK employer of record route is delivered by Remote, not Gusto, and requires an active US account.
Who should investigate it
US small businesses choosing payroll software, and US companies with UK contractors or employees who want those payments and hires handled inside an existing Gusto account. UK employers choosing payroll software should read this review to confirm the boundary, then look elsewhere.
When another approach makes more sense
UK employers who need UK PAYE payroll, HMRC RTI submissions, UK payslips, BACS payments or a UK payroll provider — Gusto cannot do any of these. Also buyers who need UK data residency, UK support hours, or a UK supplier entity.

Definition

What is Gusto?

Gusto is a cloud payroll, HR and benefits platform built for US small businesses. It runs full-service payroll in all 50 states and Washington DC, calculating, filing and paying federal, state and local taxes automatically, and it wraps that core in benefits administration, time tracking, PTO management, onboarding and HR tools. The vendor serves more than 500,000 businesses and is one of the best-known payroll platforms in the United States, with a reputation for a genuinely approachable user experience.

The product's international story is narrower than the branding suggests. Gusto Global lets US businesses pay independent contractors in more than 120 countries in local currency with no extra monthly fee, and Gusto Global EOR, powered by Remote, lets US customers hire full-time salaried employees in roughly 12 countries — including the UK — without setting up a local entity. Both services are add-ons to a US payroll account, not standalone products, and the EOR service is delivered by Remote as the legal employer of record.

The critical fact for a UK buyer is what Gusto is not. It is not a UK payroll product. It cannot run UK PAYE payroll, cannot make HMRC Real Time Information submissions, does not produce UK payslips, does not pay by BACS and has no UK entity or UK data hosting. A UK employer choosing payroll software should treat Gusto as out of scope and look at UK providers such as BrightPay, Sage or Moneysoft instead.

What Gusto can do for a UK audience is specific and real: a US company with a UK contractor can pay them in pounds through Gusto Global, and a US company wanting to hire a UK employee can do so through the Remote-powered employer of record, with Remote as the legal employer handling UK employment law, payroll and benefits. That is a legitimate use case, but it is a US company's use case, not a UK employer's.

UK Business Stack classifies Gusto as the payroll and HR layer of a US small-business stack: it sits between the time tracking and benefits systems where employee data lives and the accounting package where payroll costs are recorded, and it automates the middle so a small US business never touches a tax form by hand.

Stack position

How Gusto fits into a small-business stack

Gusto occupies the space that a payroll bureau, a benefits broker and an HR filing cabinet usually fill together for a US small business. Employees are onboarded with digital offer letters and self-service checklists; payroll runs automatically with taxes calculated, filed and paid; benefits are administered through the same platform; and the costs sync to QuickBooks or Xero for the accountant.

The integration story is accounting-first. QuickBooks Online and Desktop connect with two-way journal entry sync, Xero receives payroll as a bill or manual journal, and QuickBooks Time syncs hourly employee time to payroll. The gap that matters is the absence of any UK payroll integration, which is not an oversight but a reflection of the product's US scope.

The UK question is therefore not about integration fit but about fundamental suitability. Gusto's stack position for a UK employer is empty: there is no UK payroll to run, no HMRC submission to make and no UK payslip to generate. Its stack position for a US company with UK people is real but partial — contractor payments and EOR hires happen in Gusto, while the UK employment relationship itself is administered by Remote.

Accounting

QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop and Xero connect so payroll costs land in the books with chart of accounts mapping, which is the hand-off an accountant actually needs.

Time tracking

Native time tracking runs on Plus and above, with a Time and Attendance Plus add-on on Simple, and QuickBooks Time syncs hourly data to payroll.

International hiring

Gusto Global pays contractors in 120+ countries, and the Remote-powered EOR hires employees in roughly 12 countries including the UK — with Remote as the legal employer.

HR and compliance

An HR resource centre, performance reviews, org charts, document e-signing and federal and state compliance alerts cover the people operations a small US business needs.

Core workflow

How Gusto works

The flow below reflects Gusto's documented product behaviour and published setup guidance for US businesses. UK Business Stack has not run a live Gusto trial for this review, so treat these steps as documented behaviour rather than tested behaviour.

Step 1

Create the account and add the business

Sign up with the business's US federal employer identification number, entity type and state registrations; Gusto assists with state tax registration, and the 30-day trial lets you explore before committing.

Step 2

Onboard employees

Send digital offer letters, collect I-9 and E-Verify details, set up direct deposit and let employees complete self-service onboarding checklists with their personal and tax information.

Step 3

Configure payroll and benefits

Set pay schedules and pay rates, add earning and deduction types, enroll employees in health insurance and 401(k) through Guideline, and configure PTO accrual policies.

Step 4

Run payroll

Approve hours and time off, review the payroll preview, and run it; Gusto calculates, files and pays federal, state and local taxes automatically and generates W-2s and 1099s at year end.

Step 5

Track time and manage PTO

Employees clock in through the app or web, overtime is calculated against configured rules, and PTO requests move through approval workflows with balances visible to everyone.

Step 6

Pay international contractors

Add contractors in 120+ countries, who complete W-8 BEN or W-8 BEN-E forms; Gusto pays them in local currency with no extra monthly fee beyond the contractor rate.

Step 7

Hire abroad through the EOR

For full-time hires in supported countries including the UK, add the employee through the Remote-powered EOR; Remote becomes the legal employer and handles local payroll, benefits and compliance.

Step 8

Sync costs to accounting

Map payroll journal entries to the chart of accounts in QuickBooks or Xero so gross pay, taxes and benefits costs land in the books without manual rekeying.

Capabilities

Key features that actually matter

1

Automatic US payroll and tax filing

Full-service payroll in all 50 states and Washington DC with automatic federal, state and local tax calculation, filing and payment, multiple pay schedules, off-cycle and bonus runs, and W-2 and 1099 creation and filing at year end.

Trade-off: The automation is US-specific by design: there is no UK PAYE, no HMRC RTI submission and no UK payslip, so a UK employer gets no value from the core product at all.

2

Benefits administration

Medical, dental and vision insurance with Gusto acting as broker at no extra admin cost, 401(k) through Guideline, HSA, FSA and commuter benefits, with enrollment and life-event changes handled in the platform.

Trade-off: Health benefits are unavailable in several US states, and the benefits catalogue is US-shaped: no workplace pension auto-enrolment, no UK salary sacrifice schemes and no NHS-adjacent products.

3

Time tracking and PTO

Native time tracking with overtime calculations runs on Plus and above, with a Time and Attendance Plus add-on on Simple; PTO policies with custom accruals, requests, approvals and visible balances cover leave management.

Trade-off: Time tracking is not included on the entry plan, and the overtime rules are US-shaped — there is no UK Working Time Regulations template, no 48-hour week opt-out handling and no UK annual leave calculation.

4

Onboarding and HR tools

Digital offer letters, I-9 and E-Verify, direct deposit setup and employee self-onboarding checklists, plus an HR resource centre, performance reviews, org charts, document e-signing and compliance alerts.

Trade-off: Onboarding is built around US employment paperwork: I-9, E-Verify and W-4 have no UK equivalent, so a UK employer would be configuring forms that do not apply to them.

5

Gusto Global contractor payments

US businesses pay independent contractors in more than 120 countries in local currency with no extra monthly fee; contractors complete W-8 BEN or W-8 BEN-E forms and receive payment through the platform.

Trade-off: Contractor payments require a full payroll plan — the Contractor Only plan was retired for new customers in October 2026 — and the service is for US businesses paying contractors, not for UK businesses paying anyone.

6

Employer of record via Remote

Gusto Global EOR, powered by Remote, hires full-time salaried employees in roughly 12 countries including the UK, with Remote as the legal employer handling local payroll, benefits and compliance.

Trade-off: The EOR requires an active US Gusto account with at least one W-2 employee, the UK employment relationship is administered by Remote rather than Gusto, and the service covers only around a dozen countries.

7

Accounting integrations

QuickBooks Online and Desktop connect with two-way journal entry sync and chart of accounts mapping, Xero receives payroll as a bill or manual journal, and QuickBooks Time syncs hourly employee time to payroll.

Trade-off: The integration catalogue is US-accounting-centric: no UK payroll provider, no HMRC-recognised software and no BACS payment rail, so the accounting hand-off works for US books only.

Best use cases

When Gusto earns its place

US small businesses with hourly workers

Restaurants, retailers and service companies with hourly employees get automatic payroll, tax filing, time tracking and PTO in one platform with a reputation for approachability.

US companies paying UK contractors

A US business with a UK freelance designer, developer or consultant can pay them in pounds through Gusto Global with no extra monthly fee, inside the account they already run.

US companies hiring their first UK employee

Rather than setting up a UK entity, a US company hires the employee through the Remote-powered EOR, with Remote as the legal employer handling UK payroll and compliance.

Growing US businesses outgrowing spreadsheets

Companies moving off manual payroll get automatic tax filing, benefits administration and onboarding checklists with published per-person pricing and no setup fees.

QuickBooks or Xero centred US businesses

Because payroll syncs to QuickBooks and Xero with chart of accounts mapping, the accounting hand-off is automatic for businesses already in that ecosystem.

US companies with international contractor networks

Businesses paying contractors across many countries in local currency through one platform, with W-8 handling built in, avoid maintaining separate payment arrangements per country.

Buyer fit

Who should consider Gusto?

US small businesses choosing payroll software

Companies of one to a hundred employees that want automatic payroll, tax filing, benefits and HR tools in one well-designed platform with published pricing.

US companies with UK contractors

Businesses that want to pay UK freelancers and contractors in pounds inside their existing Gusto account, with W-8 handling and no extra monthly fee.

US companies making their first UK hire

Companies that want a UK employee without setting up a UK entity, using the Remote-powered employer of record with Remote as the legal employer.

Businesses that value month-to-month billing

With no setup fees, no long-term contract except the Business Compliance add-on, and charges only for active employees, Gusto suits buyers who want flexibility.

QuickBooks or Xero users

The two-way journal sync with QuickBooks and the Xero payroll integration make Gusto the path of least resistance for businesses in that accounting ecosystem.

Buyer fit

Who should probably not choose Gusto?

UK employers choosing payroll software

Gusto cannot run UK PAYE payroll, make HMRC RTI submissions, generate UK payslips or pay by BACS. A UK employer needs a UK payroll provider such as BrightPay, Sage or Moneysoft.

Buyers who need UK data residency

Gusto has no UK entity and no UK data hosting; US data processing with US-based support is the only option.

Businesses that need UK compliance features

There is no UK Working Time Regulations template, no workplace pension auto-enrolment, no UK salary sacrifice and no HMRC-recognised software integration.

Companies that need certified security evidence

SOC reports are available only under NDA, and no ISO 27001 or PCI DSS certification is publicly confirmed, which may not satisfy procurement that requires named certifications.

Businesses outside the US and the EOR countries

Full-service payroll runs only in the 50 US states and Washington DC; the EOR covers only around a dozen countries, and US territories are not supported.

Buyers who want a standalone contractor payment tool

The Contractor Only plan was retired for new customers in October 2026, so contractor payments now require a full payroll plan with at least the base fee.

Alternative approach

Gusto vs doing it another way

Before subscribing to any payroll platform it is worth naming the honest alternatives. For a US business they compete on automation and benefits; for a UK employer they are simply different products in a different market.

Ordinary alternatives to Gusto, compared on what each route actually involves.
Alternative routeWhat it involves in practice
A UK payroll providerBrightPay, Sage, Moneysoft and other UK payroll software run PAYE, make HMRC RTI submissions, generate UK payslips and pay by BACS — everything a UK employer needs and Gusto cannot do.
A payroll bureau or accountantOutsourcing payroll to a bureau or accountant costs more per run but removes the software entirely, which suits businesses with simple payroll and no appetite for self-service.
A global EOR as a standalone serviceDeel, Remote and Rippling offer employer of record and contractor payments directly, without requiring a US payroll account — the right route for a non-US company hiring in the UK.
A broader HR platformRippling, Personio and Deel combine payroll with HR, devices and app management for companies that want one system for the whole employee lifecycle, at higher cost and complexity.
Manual payroll and spreadsheetsFor a handful of employees, manual payroll with HMRC Basic PAYE Tools works at no cost, but it scales badly and leaves tax filing to the employer.
Doing nothing this quarterDeferring is legitimate while headcount is stable or the business is between payroll providers; switching mid-year creates reconciliation work without solving a live problem.

Rollout

Implementation and adoption

  1. Confirm the market before anything else

Gusto is a US payroll product. If you are a UK employer, stop here and evaluate UK providers; if you are a US company with UK people, confirm whether contractor payments or the EOR route fits your situation.

  2. Complete state tax registration early

Gusto assists with state tax registration, but new registrations take time; start the setup before your first payroll run rather than discovering the gap on payday.

  3. Map the plan gates to your needs

Time tracking is Plus and above, HR resources are Premium-exclusive, and the Business Compliance add-on is $85 per month per state; map each requirement to a plan before comparing prices.

  4. Configure overtime and PTO rules deliberately

Overtime calculations and PTO accruals inherit whatever rules you configure; decide them explicitly rather than accepting defaults, because changing them later creates historical corrections.

  5. Budget the add-ons

Health insurance broker integration at $6 per employee, workers' compensation from $14 per month, priority support at $30 per month plus $3 per person, and next-day pay at $15 per month plus $3 per person all add up.

  6. Set up accounting sync before the first run

Map payroll journal entries to the chart of accounts in QuickBooks or Xero during setup, so the first payroll lands in the books correctly rather than requiring a manual correction.

  7. Understand the EOR boundary

With the Remote-powered EOR, Remote is the legal employer for UK hires; confirm who handles employment contracts, grievances and terminations before adding your first UK employee.

  8. Read the commercial terms

Billing is month-to-month in arrears, only active employees are charged, and the Business Compliance add-on requires an annual contract; understand renewal and cancellation before committing.

UK context

UK small-business considerations

  • Gusto is not a UK payroll product. This is the single most important fact for a UK buyer. Gusto runs full-service payroll in the 50 US states and Washington DC only. It cannot run UK PAYE, cannot make HMRC Real Time Information submissions, does not generate UK payslips and does not pay by BACS.
  • Who you are contracting with. Gusto is a San Francisco company with no UK-registered entity. UK Companies House shows only unrelated businesses named Gusto. Contracts are with the US company under US law, and support is US-based with no UK hours.
  • Currency and tax. All pricing is in US dollars with no UK price list, so the sterling cost moves with the exchange rate and card charges; confirm the VAT treatment that applies to your purchase with Gusto and your accountant.
  • Where the data sits. Gusto processes and stores data in the United States on AWS infrastructure. There is no UK or EEA data residency option, which matters for UK employee and contractor data processed through the platform.
  • The UK contractor route. A US company can pay UK contractors in pounds through Gusto Global in 120+ countries with no extra monthly fee. The contractor completes W-8 BEN or W-8 BEN-E forms; this is a US company's feature, not a UK freelancer's payroll.
  • The UK employee route. A US company can hire a UK employee through the Remote-powered EOR in roughly 12 countries. Remote is the legal employer, handles UK payroll and compliance, and requires an active US Gusto account with at least one W-2 employee.
  • Security assurance. Published controls include SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports under NDA, TLS 1.2 in transit, AES-256 at rest, multi-factor authentication and third-party penetration testing. No ISO 27001 or PCI DSS certification is publicly confirmed.
  • What a UK employer should do instead. Evaluate UK payroll providers — BrightPay, Sage, Moneysoft and others — that run PAYE, make HMRC RTI submissions and integrate with UK accounting software. Gusto's UK relevance is limited to US companies with UK people.

Buying guidance

Pricing and value considerations

Gusto is priced per business plus per person in US dollars: Simple at $49 plus $6 per person per month, Plus at $80 plus $12, and Premium at $180 plus $22, with no setup fees, month-to-month billing and charges only for active employees. Contractor payments in 120+ countries carry no extra monthly fee beyond the contractor rate.

The October 2026 repackaging retired the Contractor Only plan for new customers, folded performance reviews into Plus, made HR resources Premium-exclusive and introduced a Business Compliance add-on at $85 per month per state on annual contract. All prices are in US dollars, so the sterling cost moves with the exchange rate.

1

What drives value

  • Published per-business plus per-person pricing with no setup fees and no long-term contract, which is unusually transparent for payroll software
  • Automatic federal, state and local tax calculation, filing and payment in all 50 states, removing the compliance burden that justifies payroll software
  • Benefits administration including health insurance and 401(k) in the same platform, avoiding a separate benefits broker
  • Contractor payments in 120+ countries with no extra monthly fee, inside the account the business already runs
  • Charges only for active employees, so seasonal and fluctuating workforces pay for what they use
  • A reputation for approachable design that reduces the training burden on small business owners and their teams
2

What drives cost

  • US dollar billing with no UK price list, so exchange rates and card charges sit on top of the published price
  • The base fee plus per-person structure means the entry cost is $49 a month before any employees, which is high for a one-person company
  • Add-ons that materially change the total: Business Compliance at $85 per month per state, health insurance broker integration at $6 per employee, priority support at $30 per month plus $3 per person
  • Time tracking locked behind Plus, pushing businesses that need it from $49 to $80 a month base
  • The EOR route for UK employees is priced by Remote, not published by Gusto, and requires an active US account with at least one W-2 employee
  • Next-day, same-day and instant pay options carry additional per-payroll or per-person charges
3

Check before you buy

  • Whether you are a US business or a UK employer — Gusto is out of scope for UK payroll, so confirm the market before evaluating anything else
  • Current prices in US dollars, the currency you will actually be charged in, and the VAT treatment that applies to your purchase
  • Which plan carries each feature you need: time tracking, HR resources, priority support and the Business Compliance add-on are gated by tier
  • Your expected add-on usage — broker integration, workers' compensation, priority support and faster pay — against the per-person and per-state charges
  • Whether contractor payments or the EOR route fits your UK situation, and what Remote charges and requires for the EOR
  • Where your data will be processed and whether US-only hosting satisfies your obligations for UK contractor and employee data

Trade-offs

Important limitations of Gusto

  • Gusto is a US payroll product, not a UK one. It cannot run UK PAYE payroll, make HMRC RTI submissions, generate UK payslips or pay by BACS. For a UK employer, the core product delivers nothing.
  • No UK entity or UK data hosting. Gusto is a San Francisco company with no UK-registered entity, US-based support and US data processing on AWS, with no UK or EEA data residency option.
  • US dollar pricing with no UK price list. All prices are in US dollars, so the sterling cost moves with the exchange rate and card charges, and taxes are handled under US rules.
  • The EOR route is delivered by Remote, not Gusto. For UK employees, Remote is the legal employer and administers the UK employment relationship; Gusto requires an active US account with at least one W-2 employee, and the service covers only around a dozen countries.
  • US-shaped compliance and benefits. I-9, E-Verify, W-4, US state break laws and US benefits have no UK equivalents, and there is no Working Time Regulations template, auto-enrolment or salary sacrifice support.
  • Certified security evidence is limited. The vendor publishes SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports only under NDA and holds no publicly confirmed ISO 27001 or PCI DSS certification, so buyers who need named certifications as a condition of purchase will not find them here.
  • The Contractor Only plan was retired. New customers can no longer buy a contractor-only plan as of October 2026, so contractor payments now require a full payroll plan with at least the base fee.

Decision framework

Deciding on Gusto

Consider Gusto if

  • You are a US small business that wants automatic payroll, tax filing, benefits and HR tools in one polished platform
  • You are a US company paying UK or other international contractors and want those payments inside your existing Gusto account
  • You are a US company hiring your first UK employee and want an employer of record rather than a UK entity
  • You value published per-person pricing, month-to-month billing and no setup fees
  • You already run QuickBooks or Xero and want payroll syncing to your accounting package
  • You want benefits administration including health insurance and 401(k) in the same platform as payroll

Look elsewhere if

  • You are a UK employer — Gusto cannot run UK PAYE, make HMRC RTI submissions or generate UK payslips, so evaluate UK payroll providers instead
  • You need UK data residency, a UK supplier entity or UK support hours
  • You need UK compliance features such as Working Time Regulations templates, auto-enrolment or salary sacrifice
  • You are a non-US company hiring in the UK and want a standalone EOR — use Deel or Remote directly rather than through Gusto
  • Procurement requires ISO 27001 or PCI DSS certification as a condition of purchase
  • You want a standalone contractor payment tool without a full payroll plan

Pros

  • Automatic US payroll with federal, state and local tax calculation, filing and payment in all 50 states and Washington DC, plus W-2 and 1099 handling
  • Benefits administration including health insurance, 401(k) through Guideline, HSA, FSA and commuter benefits, with Gusto acting as broker at no extra admin cost
  • Published per-business plus per-person pricing with no setup fees, month-to-month billing and charges only for active employees
  • Gusto Global pays independent contractors in more than 120 countries in local currency with no extra monthly fee
  • Gusto Global EOR, powered by Remote, hires full-time employees in roughly 12 countries including the UK without a local entity
  • A genuinely well-regarded user experience with onboarding checklists, HR tools, time tracking on Plus and above, and integrations with QuickBooks and Xero

Cons

  • Gusto is a US payroll product: it does not run UK PAYE payroll, cannot make HMRC RTI submissions and has no UK entity or UK data hosting
  • All pricing is in US dollars with no UK price list, and support is US-based with no UK support hours
  • The employer of record route for UK employees is provided by Remote, not Gusto, and requires an active US Gusto account with at least one W-2 employee
  • Health benefits are unavailable in several US states, and the EOR service covers only around a dozen countries
  • No ISO 27001 or PCI DSS certification is publicly confirmed, and SOC reports are available only under NDA
  • The Contractor Only plan was retired for new customers in October 2026, and contractor payments now require a full payroll plan

Final verdict

Where Gusto makes sense

Gusto is an excellent payroll, HR and benefits platform for its intended market: US small businesses that want automatic payroll with tax filing, benefits administration, time tracking and onboarding in one approachable product. The pricing is published and transparent, the automation is genuine, and the contractor payment and EOR services extend its reach to UK people in ways that are real and useful for US companies.

The verdict for a UK buyer is necessarily split. For a UK employer choosing payroll software, Gusto is simply the wrong tool: it cannot run UK PAYE, cannot make HMRC RTI submissions, has no UK entity, no UK data hosting and no UK compliance features. A UK business should evaluate BrightPay, Sage, Moneysoft or another UK payroll provider instead. For a US company with UK contractors or employees, Gusto Global and the Remote-powered EOR are credible options that keep everything inside one account.

Before committing, verify four things directly with Gusto: whether your use case is US payroll, contractor payments or the EOR, because the product's relevance depends entirely on which one you need; the current prices in US dollars and the add-ons your situation requires; where your data will be processed and whether US-only hosting satisfies your obligations for UK people; and, for the EOR route, what Remote charges and requires as the legal employer. If you are a UK employer, the verification is simpler: confirm with a UK payroll provider that they run PAYE and RTI, and move on.

FAQ

Common questions

Is Gusto available in the UK?

Gusto is a US payroll product. It runs full-service payroll in all 50 US states and Washington DC, but it does not run UK PAYE payroll, cannot make HMRC RTI submissions and has no UK entity. A US company can pay UK contractors through Gusto Global and hire UK employees through the Remote-powered employer of record, but a UK employer should choose a UK payroll provider such as BrightPay, Sage or Moneysoft.

How much does Gusto cost?

Gusto is priced per business plus per person in US dollars: Simple at $49 plus $6 per person per month, Plus at $80 plus $12, and Premium at $180 plus $22, with no setup fees and month-to-month billing. Contractor payments in 120+ countries carry no extra monthly fee beyond the contractor rate. Confirm current pricing with Gusto.

Can Gusto pay UK contractors?

Yes, if you are a US business. Gusto Global pays independent contractors in more than 120 countries in local currency with no extra monthly fee, and UK contractors complete W-8 BEN or W-8 BEN-E forms. This is a feature for US companies paying contractors, not a UK payroll service.

Can Gusto hire UK employees?

Yes, through the Gusto Global EOR powered by Remote, which covers roughly 12 countries including the UK. Remote becomes the legal employer and handles UK payroll, benefits and compliance. The service requires an active US Gusto account with at least one W-2 employee, and it is delivered by Remote rather than Gusto.

What is the difference between Gusto and a UK payroll provider?

Gusto runs US payroll with federal, state and local tax filing in all 50 states. UK payroll providers such as BrightPay, Sage and Moneysoft run PAYE, make HMRC RTI submissions, generate UK payslips and pay by BACS. They are different products for different tax systems, and neither can do the other's job.

Does Gusto integrate with QuickBooks and Xero?

Yes. Gusto integrates with QuickBooks Online and Desktop with two-way journal entry sync and chart of accounts mapping, with Xero receiving payroll as a bill or manual journal, and with QuickBooks Time for hourly employee time. These are US accounting integrations; no UK payroll provider integration is published.

Is Gusto suitable for a UK startup with US and UK employees?

Partially. The US employees run on Gusto payroll as normal. The UK employees would be hired through the Remote-powered EOR, with Remote as the legal employer handling UK payroll and compliance. Confirm with Gusto and Remote what the combined setup requires and costs before committing.

How does Gusto support its customers?

Gusto provides US-based support with phone, email and chat depending on the plan, plus an HR resource centre, compliance alerts and onboarding guidance. No UK support hours or UK-based support team are published, so test responsiveness during your trial.
